Counterpoint’s Fall audition process is complete! Join us in welcoming Kara Percival (HC ‘11), Sharanya Sharma (BMC ‘11), Marisa La Piana (BMC ‘12), Katherine Cunningham (BMC ‘13), Joyniece Kirkland (BMC ‘13), Keshia Koech (BMC ‘13), Alia Luz (BMC ‘13), Sarah Jordan (BMC ‘13), and Erica Sands (HC ‘13)  to Counterpoint!

Sweet Sugar Counterpoint (2009)

We are glad to finally bring you Sweet, Sugar, Counterpoint, Counterpoint’s very first recording! It has been a two year process: from creating the group in Fall 2007, to producing the arrangements, learning the music, and, finally, getting to the recording studio with Haverford’s own Black Squirrel Records, we have learned a lot about what it takes to produce a CD and about our identity as an a cappella group.

The first three tracks were recorded with Haverford’s Black Squirrel Records in the D.C. basement; the live tracks were recorded at Counterpoint’s May 2009 concert in the Lusty Cup. Physical copies of the CD will be offered (also for free! hooray) at Haverford’s activities fair and Bryn Mawr’s Fall Frolic.  If you have any questions about the download or the physical copy, please email one of our officers at left.

While we were able to record with Black Squirrel Records for no cost, we did assemble each and every physical CD from scratch ourselves. We’d like to make more physical copies to give to all of you! but we’ve run out of funding.

To that end, we are accepting donations through PayPal here.

All donations receive our heartfelt thanks. (Note: due to student government rules about personal club accounts, all donations to Counterpoint will be first processed through a personal account owned by one of the Counterpoint members. On the Honor Code, we assure you that all donations will end up in the club pot.)

Always wanted to sing sultry tunes and rock ballads with an a cappella group? Enjoy gospel and soul? Join Counterpoint, the newest Bi-Co group on campus!

Come with an excerpt from your favorite song to sing for us–something that you feel showcases your voice. Also expect to sing a few scales and perform some basic pitch matching exercises. That’s it! We are interested in all voice types.

Audition times will be:

Sunday, September 6th, 8 to 10 PM
Tuesday, September 8th, 8 to 10 PM

Location to be determined! Check back for updates.

Sign up sheets will be posted in the Campus Center on the evening of August 29th. Though Fords and Mawrtyrs are welcome at BMC area auditions, Haverford area auditions are forthcoming!
